Young people the most heavily affected
In Colombia, a new case of HIV/AIDS is reported among young men and women every day. This figure contrasts with the ones reported 20 years ago, when a new case was detected every week. As in many countries, the HIV/AIDS epidemic affects the most vulnerable populations and increasingly affects young people.
   
Public Ombudsman’s Office presents study of children demobilized from illegal armed groups
Bogotá D.C., 11 December/06. The Public Ombudsman’s Office and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have presented a report entitled Children and their rights, a characterization of children and adolescents demobilized from the illegal armed groups, a qualitative and quantitative and analysis of the experiences of demobilized children at three different moments – the period prior to their recruitment, their trajectory within the illegal armed groups and their experiences following demobilization.

Artists and businesspersons united for children in Latin America

Panama, 12 December 2006 – Today a select group of famous Latin American artists kept a date at the National Theater in the City of Panama to confirm their commitment to the children of Latin America. They were accompanied by Latin American businesspersons of the highest order, to launch Fundación Alas, America Latina en Acción Solidaria (“The Wings Foundation, Latin America in Solidary Action”.
