WASH Journalism Competition
The Water and Sanitation Supply Collaboration Council (WSSCC) and the Stockholm International Institute Water Institute (SIWI) are co-sponsoring the second edition of the WASH Journalism Competition, which will cover the period between July 2007 and April 2008. The competition is open to journalists from developing countries that publish or broadcast reports on original research on themes related to water supply, sanitation or hygiene in their countries.
UNICEF deplores death of mother and two babies
in Palmira municipality minefield
Bogotá, January 30, 2008. The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, deplores the tragic death of a peasant mother and her two babies in a mined sector in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, when they stepped on an anti-personnel mine planted in an apparently inoffensive road.
 
Children’s voices important in climate change discussions
NEW YORK/NUSA DUA (BALI), 12 December 2007 – Two days after the presentation of the Nobel Peace Prize to environmental experts, UNICEF has released a publication that outlines the concerns of children and youth about climate change.



LAW ON CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
On August 17 the Bill of Statutory Law was presented to Congress “in which the law on Children and Adolescents is promulgated”, a proposal that prioritizes eight basic themes: Nutrition, Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Special Protection, Civil Registration, Maternal Mortality, Infant Mortality, and Water and Sanitation. Colombia wins international children’s television prize with RCN, Citurna and UNICEF’s “One Minute for my Rights”

At the recent Third Ibero American Children’s Television Festival, “Prix Jeunesse”, in Santiago de Chile, Colombia won the prize for the “best new ideas” category with its project “One Minute for my Rights”, developed by UNICEF in association with RCN Television.
