in Gaza has been dealt a blow by the
strike today that devastated warehouses
in the United Nations compound and destroyed
essential emergency goods and products.

of Statutory Law was presented to Congress “in
which the law on Children and Adolescents
is promulgated”, a proposal that
prioritizes eight basic themes: Nutrition,

Maternal Mortality, Infant Mortality,
and Water and Sanitation. Based on what

killed and more than 1,500 wounded, since the
beginning of the Gaza crisis on 27 December, 2008.

emergency supplies for children at risk in Gaza

Jordan, 11 January 2009 – As the conflict
in the Gaza Strip continues in its third week,
UNICEF teams are working to ensure that critical
supplies are ready to reach women and children
at risk.

Bebedó, with
water at its rooftops
Last
November 26 and 27, a devastating flood in the
San Juan river basin in Chocó destroyed
more than one thousand houses and ruined hundreds
of hectares of crops in the municipalities of
Nóvita (Tamaná River), Medio San
Juan (Condoto and San Juan Rivers) Istmina and
Litoral del San Juan. The water reached unexpected
levels of more than 5 meters – whereas in
the past what were considered large floods only
rose to two meters. The river water dragged away
the walls, roofs, beds and mattresses, chairs,
billiard tables and even televisions.

on Situation in Gaza
NEW
YORK, 29 December 2008 – UNICEF is deeply
concerned about the impact of the current violence
in Gaza on children. UNICEF urges all parties
to the conflict to abide by their international
legal obligation to ensure that children are protected
and that they receive essential humanitarian supplies
and support.
