Unicentro exhibits UNICEF cards with messages for Haitian children

Unicentro Shopping Centre in Bogotá currently is exhibiting more than 3700 UNICEF cards with messages and drawings of support and solidarity that the children of Colombia have prepared for their peers in Haiti. The cards will be available and exhibited to the public until April 30 in the main entrance to the mall.

International professionals in Education preparing to address education in emergency situations

The Education in Emergencies Working Group in Colombia and UNICEF are holding a training session for professionals and technical personnel from the education sector and functionaries of humanitarian agencies, in order to provide them with the necessary tools for an adequate preparation to manage and reduce risk in emergency situations.

NEW YORK, 31 March 2010 – Six international aid organizations met in a public session at UNICEF headquarters yesterday, planning ways to make children the focus of rebuilding Haiti in the aftermath of the 12 January earthquake.

Bogotá, March 29, 2010. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia condemn and repudiate the horrifying death last March 25 of a boy of only 12, who was utilized to place an explosive charge in the municipality of El Charco in the department of Nariño, which also caused injuries to several civilians and damages to the local police station and nearby houses.
